Think Hire, a division of Think Energy Group, is the UK’s premier off-grid Energy-as-a-Service provider. Think Hire is driving the transition to a cleaner future with innovative, relocatable power solutions that combine renewable energy, hybrid technology, and smart energy management.
As sustainability moves further up the agenda for businesses across sectors, Think Hire recognised that demonstrating credible environmental performance was becoming as important as the services it delivers. Having already achieved a 28% decrease in Scope 1 and 2 emissions between 2024 and 2025 through its work with Positive Planet, Think Hire wanted to build on this progress and ensure its approach to carbon reporting could meet growing customer expectations.
With customers increasingly expecting supply chain sustainability, Think Hire wanted to move beyond high-level commitments and build a robust, independently verified carbon accounting framework that could support confident internal decision-making and provide real assurance to clients.
Why Think Hire Engaged With Positive Planet
Think Hire approached Positive Planet to strengthen its approach to measuring and communicating its carbon impact, recognising the importance of a credible carbon accounting framework, but needed specialist expertise to assess emissions accurately and establish a transparent baseline from which meaningful reductions could be tracked.
Third-party verification was central to this decision; aligning all reporting with the GHG Protocol was essential to ensure it would stand up to external scrutiny, whether from customers, procurement teams, or other stakeholders.
The engagement also reflects Think Hire’s wider commitment to supporting its customers’ own Net Zero ambitions. Many of the businesses it works with are prioritising sustainability and need suppliers who can demonstrate clear, verifiable progress on carbon reduction.
“It’s been a pleasure working with Positive Planet. The team are approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping us achieve our sustainability ambitions. Their guidance on every topic has been clear, practical, and tailored to meet our needs.“
Heath Mansell, Head of ESG, Think Hire
Working with Positive Planet
Think Hire describes the engagement as a collaborative experience. Positive Planet provided clear, structured guidance throughout the carbon accounting process, helping to demystify what can be a technically complex area. This included a comprehensive assessment of emissions, covering relevant Scope 1, 2, and 3 categories, working closely with its Procurement and Finance teams to identify relevant data sources, improve data quality, and ensure calculations aligned with recognised standards.
A key outcome was the development of a clear and credible carbon baseline, with Positive Planet translating technical emissions data into accessible annual Net Zero Plans, enabling Think Hire to clearly articulate its carbon impact and progress both internally and externally. Support in gathering and analysing emissions data enabled Think Hire to build this foundation without the process becoming burdensome.
Throughout the project, the Positive Planet team demonstrated a thorough understanding of Think Hire’s operations, tailoring its approach to ensure the outputs were both practically useful and meaningful to the business.
The Outcome
The results are measurable. Think Hire’s latest carbon reduction report shows a 28% decrease in Scope 1 and 2 emissions between 2024 and 2025, driven largely by the transition to an electric fleet. This is the business’s second consecutive year achieving Positive Planet Bronze certification, reflecting sustained progress rather than a one-off effort.
With a clear and reliable emissions baseline now in place, Think Hire can track progress with confidence, identify carbon hotspots, and make more targeted decisions about where reductions will have the most impact.
The partnership has also significantly improved Think Hire’s ability to respond to growing customer expectations. With independently verified data and structured reporting in place, the business can demonstrate genuine transparency and accountability to clients who are increasingly prioritising low-carbon supply chains.
In practical terms, this matters. Many customers now require verified carbon data as part of supplier assessment questionnaires and sustainability sections in bids. Think Hire can respond to these requirements quickly and confidently, reducing administrative effort and strengthening its position in procurement processes where environmental credentials are a deciding factor.
What’s Next?
Think Hire has set clear targets: Net Zero for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035, and Net Zero across all emissions, including Scope 3, by 2050. The business continues to build on the foundations established through its partnership with Positive Planet, focused on deepening supply chain engagement and maintaining the same standard of accountability it helps its own customers achieve.
