Cantarus is a full-service digital agency delivering extraordinary digital experiences for ambitious brands and purpose-led, influential organisations across sectors including membership, non-profit, public sector, education, retail and sport.
Working with organisations internationally, Cantarus partners with clients to design, deliver and continuously improve secure, accessible and high-performing digital platforms that support engagement, operational efficiency and long-term organisational impact.
Sustainability has already been part of the business’ ethos, with a foundation of ESG initiatives already in place. As expectations around environmental performance continue to rise, particularly within public sector procurement, Cantarus recognised the need to clearly evidence its environmental commitments in a more structured, consistent, and measurable way.
Why Cantarus Engaged With Positive Planet
Cantarus engaged Positive Planet to support the formalisation of its environmental and sustainability commitments through the creation of its first Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) and the achievement of Bronze Certification. While the business already had strong ESG activity underway, they wanted a recognised framework that would bring everything together and support its long-term ambition to achieve Net Zero.
Demonstrating credible environmental governance was also increasingly important to clients, prospective clients, and employees, particularly given their work across public sector, membership and non-profit organisations.
“Positive Planet were excellent to work with from start to finish. Their team helped us formalise our environmental commitments quickly and effectively, delivering our Carbon Reduction Plan and Bronze Certification within an ambitious two-month timeframe. The data dashboard made the process straightforward, and their expertise has given us a strong platform as we continue our journey toward ISO 14001 and ultimately Net Zero. We look forward to continuing our partnership as we progress towards Gold certification.”

The Challenge
Cantarus faced the challenge of translating established ESG intent into a formally documented and externally validated sustainability strategy, building on the organisation’s existing governance and operational standards. While initiatives existed across the business, there was no published Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) aligned with best practice, nor any certification to demonstrate measurable progress.
Environmental credentials also needed to stand up to increasing accountability measures within procurement processes. Alongside this, Cantarus set an ambitious two-month delivery target for the project, seeking a partner that could move quickly without sacrificing rigour or credibility.
Working With Positive Planet
Cantarus’ experience working with Positive Planet was extremely positive. Alex, Sam, and the wider team provided knowledgeable, organised, and supportive guidance throughout the engagement. Despite the ambitious timeframe, the project was delivered within two months without compromising quality. Positive Planet’s data collection dashboard played a central role in simplifying what could otherwise have been a complex process, making data gathering intuitive and efficient.
Partnering with a Manchester-based consultancy also aligned with Cantarus’ values around supporting local suppliers and contributing to the regional digital ecosystem, alongside its international client reach.
Cantarus also selected Positive Planet because of the breadth and quality of sustainability journeys demonstrated across its client portfolio, including organisations taking structured action on carbon measurement, reduction planning and recognised accreditation, which closely aligned with Cantarus’ own sustainability ambitions.
The Outcome
Through its partnership with Positive Planet, Cantarus successfully published its first Carbon Reduction Plan and achieved Positive Planet Certified Bronze status. The engagement established a structured, measurable sustainability framework and created a clear roadmap towards further accreditation, including ISO 14001, and long-term alignment with Net Zero ambitions.
The work has strengthened governance, improved transparency for stakeholders, and enhanced Cantarus’ positioning in procurement exercises where environmental credentials are evaluated. Internally, it has helped build momentum around sustainability, increasing awareness and embedding environmental responsibility more deeply into operational and strategic decision-making.
